Review

John Ford won the Best Directing Oscar for The Quiet Man (1952), and it was nominated for several other Oscars including Best Picture, Best Actor in a Supporting Role, and Best Screenplay.  The Quiet Man focuses on the story of Sean Thornton (John Wayne), a retired boxer from America who returns to the village in Ireland where he was born. There he meets a beautiful woman, but she has a jealous suitor who is determined to keep them apart.

When you say names like John Wayne and John Ford you don’t normally think nudity. And, in a way, you would be correct. There is no real nudity here, but Maureen O’Hara, who plays The Duke’s love interest, does have some sexy moments. She gives us some leg when she hikes up her skirt near a stream and in a few other scenes she will have you biting your lip with True Grit as you wrestle you Rio Bono while checking out Maureen’s niptastic tops. As the cloth clings to her chest, her perky erasers poke out like they are trying to escape. It is clear Mr. Ford didn’t require bras on his set.
