Review

The Passenger (1975) is a film by Michelangelo Antonioni about a journalist (Jack Nicholson) researching a documentary in the Sahara Desert. Here he meets an arms dealer that bears a striking resemblance to him, and when the dealer dies, the journalist assumes his identity, in hopes that a local id will gain him better access to his subjects. What he didn't bargain for was all the danger inherent in assuming the identity of a shady character, the only upside of which is the affair he begins with a mysterious woman (Maria Schneider). Just three years removed from her daring turn in Last Tango in Paris, Maria Schneider was somewhat "nuded out" by the time she filmed this movie. However, in one terrific scene we get to see her sensational seat meat as she lays naked, face down on a bed next to a similarly nude Nicholson. Though it's shot from a distance, there's no mistaking her perky patootie anywhere! The Passenger might persuade you to play a game of "The Stranger!"
