Review

A little white lie becomes a big stinkin’ mess in the indie comedy The Lie (2011). Lonnie (Joshua Leonard) and Clover (Jess Weixler) once dreamed of changing the world, but after an unplanned pregnancy that derailed their ambitions, now all they dream of changing is diapers. Depressed and disappointed, Lonnie tries to take a leave of absence from his shitty corporate job. But when his boss demands he show up or get fired, Lonnie tells a shocking lie...he says his baby has died. Of course, the baby is still very much alive, leading a frazzled Lonnie to concoct ever-more-absurd schemes to cover his tracks. Speaking of disappointments, Jess looks pretty great pumping her milk jugs and making out with Leonard in her bra, but we wish she would have gotten naked instead. And that’s no lie.
