The Legend of Robin Hood

No Nudity

Review

This umpteenth re-telling of the Robin Hood legend was a BBC miniseries that aired in 1975. Since most British television is made on a shoestring budget by American standards, they tend to make up for the spotty production values with good acting and clever writing. The Legend of Robin Hood was no exception, with a likeable cast, an intriguing spin on the standard plot conventions, and a masterful use of cliffhangers. As usual, Robin Hood (Martin Potter) was depicted as having preternatural skill with the bow and arrow, but interestingly enough, so did Maid Marian, played with spunk by Diane Keen. Not only did this rendition of Marian fight alongside of her man and his merry band but she was damn near as good with the bow as he was. The arrows showered down upon the evil Sheriff’s men with uncanny speed in any given episode. Keen, a slender brunette with a winning smile, also revealed her merry man puppets during a brief roll in the sheets in The Sex Thief.
