The Last Word (1995)

Journalists are commonly accepted as ambition-driven human beings of a lower order who will sacrifice friends, ethics, family, and integrity for the sake of plastering their byline atop a sensational, sell-through story. When the investigative reporter of The Last Word (1995) sets out to write a piece on a notorious and mysterious stripper, he has no intentions of falling in love with the hypnotically swaying beauty, and his subsequent genuine affection for her doesn’t stop him from filing his report and basking in the glory. When his friend the screenwriter takes his babe’s biography to Hollywood, however, big-screen scrutiny threatens to draw forth malicious entities from the lady’s murky past (read: Mafia involvement). Suddenly the muckraking ink slinger suffers an attack of morals.
