Angela Bettis stars in The Last Best Sunday (1999) as a repressed young teenage girl whose parents leave her alone for the weekend. Instead of having a wild keg party, though, she sits alone and thinks about how she’s really bored--until, that is, fugitive Douglas Spain takes her hostage and then takes her virginity. It’s okay, though. Spain is really just a misunderstood young man who went a little crazy after being attacked in a hate crime. And the two really form a loving bond, although that’s not enough to get them out of town and away from the bigoted local sheriff.
