What A Golden, Lesbian-Filled Age Of Television We Are Living In
We are living in a true golden age of television. If you are like me, when you flip on the TV it takes you about 30 minutes to decide what to watch from your list of 10 new shows. Well, get ready to add another to your list because Showtime is bringing back The L Word.
The L Word ran for six seasons and focused on the lives of Jennifer Beals, Kate Moennig, Leisha Hailey, Laurel Holloman, Mia Kirshner and Pam Grier as they searched for love, sex, and everything in between. Though it seems strange now, when the show started back in 2004 there weren’t that many lesbian characters on television. It was pretty ground breaking. While we don’t know too much about what the reboot/remake/and/or sequel will focus on, we do know that Jennifer Beals, Kate Moennig, and Leisha Hailey are signed to be executive producers and star in the show. There are also rumors that many of the original cast will return.
As excited as I am for this new version (or continuation) of The L Word, I do hope they take their time creating, writing, and filming the show. I want to make sure my TV plate is clear when this hits the small screen.
