The Independent (2000)

The mock-documentary The Independent (2000) lays out the twisted attempt at a comeback by seasoned B-movie mogul Morty Fineman (Jerry Stiller), whose beloved drive-in credits include Groovy Hippie Slumber Party, LSD-Day, Cheerleader Camp Massacre, and Large Angry Antennae. Looking for a new kind of smash, Morty options the life story of a convicted serial murderer—on the condition it be made into a musical. Wacky yet oddly plausible throughout, The Independent boasts appearances by comedy powerhouses Janeane Garofolo, Andy Dick, Anne Meara, and, naturally, Ben Stiller, along with vintage adult-cinema sexbomb Ginger Lynn Allen. But it's topless glamour gals Danielle Ciardi and Devon DeMaria who ultimately turn The Independent into the skin-dependent.
