The Howard Stern Radio Show, which ran from 1998 to 2001, was just as titled: a videotaping of this morning show, edited to TV series length and pixilated when the guests stripped, which was often. It was but one more salvo in Sterns all-out assault on the mainstream to become its King of All Media. When the mainstream won’t come to you, he seems to be saying, you come to it. He saw and conquer, changing popular culture as we know it. For better or worse, well, that’s subjective, but there’s no argument that he made the airwaves safe for skin. For that alone he is our hero.
