Rich people losing all their money seems to be a stunningly popular topic in modern entertainment, and this early-90’s dramedy from the UK is a particularly entertaining example. Louise Lombard and Stella Gonet are two spoiled, well-off, and affable young ladies in 1920’s England, who find the world a tough place when Papa dies leaving them more debt than inheritance. After some dramatic hand-wringing, the sisters decide to open their own fashion house and success slowly follows. Solid period design and strong acting performances keep this one moving smartly and smoothly.
