The Holiday (2006)

No Nudity

Review

The Holiday (2006) is chick-flicky fare from director Nancy Meyers, creator of similarly sugary chiclets Baby Boom (1987), What Women Want (2000), and Something's Gotta Give (2003). Amanda (Cameron Diaz) is a Los Angeles looker who makes movie trailers but lives a less-than-silvery life, fixating on work and then, naturally, breaking up with her cheating-hearted man. Iris (Kate Winslet) is a pretty Brit who proves that the grass isn't greener on the other side; she's trying to get over her engaged boyfriend (Rufus Sewell), who isn't quite ready to let Wins and The Twins go. The two (Cam and Kate, not Kate's first-rate sweater mates) meet up online, and soon the blondes are hopping the pond to swap turf for two weeks. Cam gets her hands on Katie's bro, played by Jude Law, while Kate and her nibblers befriend screenplay scribbler Eli Wallach. Fanatic Jack Black addicts won't find freedom from the relentless femmydom in his turn as a love interest, but the slamming Shannyn Sossamon has a wham-bam-scram bit part as Jack's back-up plan.
