The title of Clara Law’s English-Japanese co-production The Goddess of 1967 (2000) is a bit misleading. For one, the film was released in 2000, and wasn't a period piece. Furthermore, the “Goddess” in question is a French-engineered sports car, so if you’re holding out for scantily clad babes from the Swingin’ Sixties, you’re out of luck. Yes, the Citreon Desiree Speciale was nicknaned "The Goddess" because the French word for goddess is "deesse." A highly coveted car, the film centers around an ultra-wealthy but unfulfilled Japanese businessman named only J.M. (for Japanese Man) played by Rikiya Kurokawa who thinks he's hit the lottery when he finds a pristine one for sale in Australia. He goes there and meets up with the woman who put the ad out, a hot blind woman named B.G. (for Blind Girl), played by Rose Byrne. She tells him that before the deal can happen he has to drive her to the outback to meet up with the original owner. He agrees and they set out together, only she isn't actually looking to sell the car, she was looking for someone to drive her so she could get revenge on a grandpa (Nicholas Hope) who did some nasty stuff to her as a kid. Along the way, the blind girl and the Japanese fella will do all sorts of bonding, including that of the carnal variery. Although she’s not quite the goddess that’s advertised, Rose Byrne does come through with a quick flash of flesh while coupling with the Asian auto collector. Who cares about the car? Doing the bump and grind with the girl that's blind was well worth the trip, alone! Mr. Skin will be the first bidder a Goddess of 1967 ever ends up on the auction block if it makes girls like that crave his cock!
