A few years after sixties swingers were humming The Girl from Ipanema” (1964), their pants were tightening while watching The Girl from Rio (1969). Also known as Die sieben Männer der Sumuru or The Seven Men of Sumuru, Jesús Franco’s skinternational spy flick is a sequel to the British pic The Million Eyes of Sumuru (1967) starring Shirley Eaton in the title role. This time around, Sumuru (Eaton) has summoned secret agent Jeff Sutton (Richard Wyler) to the hidden city of Femina where she trains an army of half-naked women and holds wealthy prisoners for ransom. One such lass is the beautiful and rich Ulla (Marta Reves). Her father Ennio Rossini (Walter Rilla) wants Sutton to rescue her. But Jeff’s mission is made harder since crime lord Sir Masius (George Sanders) is after him due to the rumor that he has $10 million in stolen loot. To make matters even more intense, Sutton’s love interest Lesley (Maria Rohm) is pretending to be a manicurist yet is really working undercover for Sumuru. As you can guess, there are as many twists to the plot as there are curves on the comely cast. In addition to a prime Amazon (Valentina Godoy) flashing her flesh, Andalusian eyeful Irene (Elisa Montés) struts her stuff in an itsy bitsy teeny weeny bikini. Not to be upstaged, Ms. Rohm will give you hairy palms when she de-robes to your delight. The sexy sight showcases Maria’s mams and muff at the 22-minute mark. No wonder Sutton nailed this manicurist!
