Luc Besson’s skinternational flick The Fifth Element (1997) is a French production yet features actors speaking English. Destined to straddle such dichotomies, the movie was honored at the prestigious Academy Awards, the British Academy Film Awards, the César Awards, the Hugo Awards, the Lumières Awards, and at the Cannes Film Festival while simultaneously being recognized by booby prize institutions including the Golden Raspberry and Stinkers Bad Movie Awards. Despite this mixed reception, the science fiction action flick was a box office hit! It grossed more than $260 million worldwide, earning Goldene Leinwand status in Germany. And here in the United States, it had Yanks yanking all the way to the spank bank thanks to the alluring getups donned by the film’s leading lady Milla Jovovich. The PG-13 rated movie also includes Gary Oldman, Luke Perry, Maïwenn Le Besco, and Ève Salvail’s be-thonged buns! Of course, her bottomless portrayal pales compares to Milla’s topless turn. The sexy supermodel plays a slinky slip of a woman named Leeloo, and the future of the universe rests on her slender frame. Brooklyn cabbie Korben Dallas (Bruce Willis) is enlisted to help the svelte sweetie. He’s coaxed into lending a hand (as well as another part of the anatomy) when she undresses in front of him. He’ll follow her bouncing breasticles anywhere. If they must stop a powerful orb of evil headed to Earth, only Milla’s petite orbs can save them! She’s the fifth element of the title, but her elements are first and foremost to us!
