Review

The drug war gets very personal for a Baltimore family in the HBO miniseries The Corner (2000). Based on a nonfiction book by The Wire creator David Simon, The Corner stars T.K. Carter and Khandi Alexander as Gary McCullough and Francine “Fran” Boyd, a former married couple living in an impoverished section of Baltimore and wrestling with the demon of cocaine addiction. Meanwhile, their teenage son DeAndre (Sean Nelson) sees the drug trade from a whole different perspective- he’s been dealing cocaine since he was in junior high school. Cocaine may be bad, but Mr. Skin’s got a much more skinnocent high for you- sexy scenes starring awesome African-American actresses Khandi Alexander, Angel M. Wainwright, and Tasha Smith. We can’t take our eyes off of Tasha’s ta-tas as they swing freely under her loose blouse in the first episode, and Angel looks, well, angelic in flashback, playing Fran in her younger days as a ‘70s disco dame. But Khandi is still good enough to eat when she appears as modern-day Fran sleeping in her bra and panties in the third episode. You'll be pitching a tent on this Corner!
