Review

The fact-based made-for-BBC drama The Chatterley Affair (2006) follows the 1963 obscenity trial that followed the publication of D.H. Lawrence’s 1928 novel Lady Chatterley’s Lover when it was finally published in Britain in 1960. During the trial, two members of the jury (Louise Delamere and Rafe Spall) begin an affair that mirrors the affair between Lady Chatterley and Oliver Mellors in the novel, but with one difference: While the Lawrence novel portrays a relationship between a naïve woman and an experienced man, the relationship between the two jurors is reversed, with the woman being the more worldly of the two. You’ll be making a splatterly when you see Louise show off her tops and tail lying in bed with a sausage-baring dude.
