The Bounty (1984)

The Bounty (1984) provides a bounty of star-power. Not only are Oscar winners Sir Anthony Hopkins and Mel Gibson at the helm of this costume drama, the supporting cast includes Sir Laurence Olivier and Sir Edward Fox as well as two little-known newcomers named Daniel Day-Lewis and Liam Neeson! Based on the book “Captain Bligh and Mr Christian” (1972), the film covers the true story of a high seas mutiny in 1789. As the latter, Gibson leads an uprising on a British ship in the South Pacific. If that sounds familiar it’s because the historic story was the focus of several other movies, most notably In the Wake of the Bounty (1933) starring Errol Flynn as Christian, Mutiny on the Bounty (1935) featuring Clark Gable as Christian, and Mutiny on the Bounty (1962) with Marlon Brando in the same role. No doubt, it’s a great part yet we’re more entranced by the parts on ethereal islander Tevaite Vernette. As Mauatua, the Polynesian dish will satisfy your eyes as she serves up her uncovered coconuts! Yes, her nude boobs bounce when the exotic hottie is chased through the tropics by Mr. Gibson 54 minutes in. Once he catches her attention, the two go skinny-dipping! When Christian gets a tattoo, he ignores the pain by resting his head in the lap of his topless babe. In a different scene, Ms. Vernette reveals her left breast. In another scene, she shows off her right breast. But since nudity isn’t wrong, aren’t all exposed breasts right?
