Review

The aptly, if simply, named British horror film Terror (1978) explores the mad prophecy of a condemned witch who curses her community from atop a flaming stake. As the film begins, a group of teenagers is watching a film of the event inside the house where––centuries before––the depicted witch was torched and decapitated. Soon after viewing, the horror buffs are exposed to some real-life chills, as the woman’s spirit appears to treat each of them to an exquisitely torturous death. Director Norman J. Warren is clever enough to match most of the grisly gore with titillating reveals, allowing stars Tanya Ferova and Tricia Walsh to show off their budding British bodies before they’re buried six feet under the ground.
