Don Cheadle is Ralph Waldo "Petey" Greene in Talk to Me (2007), the true story of a badass dude who ruled the radio waves of Washington, D.C. in the ’60s and ’70s. Ex-con Don had his own show in the pen, so when he gets sprung he goes straight to R&B station WOL to get a job. Nobody there wants the brash brother on the air, but Cheadle still needles the hard-headed honchos—he knows he's what the community needs (as does his fiery fox of a ladyfriend, the tasty Taraji P. Henson). Program director Chiwetel Ejiofor finally starts to see promise in Don's big yapper, so he puts him on the air, nearly driving bossman Martin Sheen to have a heart attack. Soon Don is even more popular than local fave Cedric the Entertainer, and Don and Chiwetel are on the rise. But so is racial hatred, war, and violence, and Don becomes an activist as well as a yack-tivist.
