Supermarkt

Supermarkt (1974)

Brief Nudity

Review

A homeless teenager tries to turn himself into a modern day Robin Hood in the German drama Supermarkt (1974). 18-year old Willi (Charly Wierczejewski) is living on the streets of Hamburg, and has no hopes or dreams of ever becoming more than a petty crook. He's living with a journalist but spending all his time with his fellow future felon Theo (Walter Kohut). Yes, Willi is the definition of a ne'er-do-well, or at least he is until he meets the beautiful young prostitute Monika (Eva Mattes). Madly in love, he decides he's going to do whatever he can to give her a new life where she doesn't have to suck Ds for Deutsche marks. But since going straight was never going to be an option, Willi decides he's going to get some money the only way he knows how: by robbing a supermarket's money transporter. Will Willi ride off into the sunset with Monika and the money, or will our German bad boy find himself locked up for life thanks to a terrible idea executed quite poorly? This one became a cult classic in Deutschland for a few reasons. Number one is that it was one of the first German movies to show a criminal as a cool guy. Number two is that it starred a legit hood in the lead role. Yes, while filming the movie, filmmakers were constantly changing filming locales because the cops were looking for Charly. Gangster! But if you want to see the hooker whose such a looker she inspired Willi to commit a felony, take a peek at the gorgeous German Eva Schukardt baring her funbags, furburg, and wonderfully meaty seat while cleaning up the kitchen in the nude. Das ist gut! Just don't think Germany has hookers as hot as supermodels like they do in Supermarkt.
