If you think the MCU pioneered the funny superhero movie with its meta humor and pop culture references, or you think Thor: Love and Thunder (2022) is the wackiest one ever made, then you must never have seen Superman III (1983). A completely different kind of Superman movie than the first two films, this third installment of the Christopher Reeve-led franchise is somehow both goofy and oddly frightening. The goofiness comes from the addition of comedian Richard Pryor, who plays a computer programmer named Gus Gorman that’s hired by a crazed billionaire. No, sadly it's not Lex Luthor (Gene Hackman), but Ross Webster (Robert Vaughn) instead. Ross made his money by stealing the fractions of a cent left behind in every bank transaction, a scheme later referenced in Office Space (1999). Ross plans to gain control of weather satellites around Earth and mess with crop production to make himself even richer. When the plan is thwarted by Superman, Webster and Gorman go after him with Kryptonite that ends up turning the caped hero into a scary baddie - and this is on top of him already being conflicted about his relationship with Lois Lane (Margot Kidder) when he, as Clark Kent, goes back to Smallville and ends up rekindling things with his first love, Lana Lang (Annette O’Toole). Throw in an evil, self aware computer and The Man of Steel has all sorts of issues to deal with in the third Superman movie. We had no problem tugging our tool seeing Annette and her protruding pokies that had Clark Kent captivated all these years later! But Evil Superman seems to have the hots for the busty blonde Pamela Stephenson’s Lady in Red, Lorelei, and who wouldn’t with all that overflowing cleavage! This blond bombshell will have you beating off faster than a speeding bullet with her work in Superman III!
