Exploding onto the scene with the tagline "You will believe a man can fly," Richard Donner's Superman: The Movie (1978) was the first ever big budget blockbuster comic book movie. The then-unknown Christopher Reeve set the gold standard for portraying the big blue boy scout and his meager alter ego Clark Kent on film in what is an otherwise standard issue comic book origin film. Sent from the dying planet of Krypton to Earth by his father Jor-El (Marlon Brando), Kal-El—aka Superman—is raised by the Kents in Smallville, Kansas before growing up to become a big city reporter working for the Daily Planet in Metropolis. Here he meets and falls for intrepid reporter Lois Lane (Margot Kidder), while also attempting to stop the villainous Lex Luthor (Gene Hackman), who is constantly putting millions of lives at risk with his careless behavior. Of course, the sexual awakening of many a teenage boy of the 70s and 80s wouldn't be complete without Miss Teschmacher (Valerie Perrine), Luthor's sexy assistant who gives great cleavage in a variety of sexy outfits!
