When you look back at the classic Sci-Fi movies that dominate the Star Trek universe, up to and including the most recent ones, you have to hold Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home (1986) in a special place in your heart.  Arguably, the most 80s of all the Star Trek movies and directed by none other than Spock himself, Leonard Nimoy!  This one gets the band from the original series back together, but they find themselves living in exile as a ragtag team of outcasts and outlaws after their actions in Star Trek III: The Search for Spock, and now they stuck on Vulcan when they receive a distress call from their home planet... Earth!  The crew decides that they are the only ones who can possibly save Earth from a terrible fate and the best way to do that, time travel to 1986, coincidentally the same year this movie came out.  So they steal a ship, warp back to 1986, and a series of questionable choices and actions from everyone of the original series leads them to discover the only way to save earth is to bring a Humpback Whale back with them, as it is the only creature that can decipher and interpret the distress on how to save earth!  This one marks the last in the series of classic Star Trek films and is arguably the biggest departure from the Sci-Fi genre and into comedy, as all the characters are basically acting like Crocodile Dundee, surprised by everything in the world of 1986 San Francisco.  They are a Klingon ship full of "Unfrozen Cavemen Lawyers" just confused by boomboxes, taking the bus, and cuss words they hear on said buses.  This movie has it all!  The idea of what people in 1986 thought the future would look like, the importance of the "save the whales" campaign that was soaring in popularity at the time, and of course the fish-out of water comedy formula that was dominating the time period.  WATCH THIS MOVIE, LOVE THIS MOVIE, and definitely pay attention to the legendary Catherine Hicks and her wet t-shirt pokies while helping Scottie prevent an explosion!  "We're giving her all she's got captain, and we can't hold it any longer!!!"
