Slaughterhouse of the Rising Sun (2004)

The 1970s were a decade that has yet to be eclipsed in American history for weirdness, narcotic indulgence, psychological mayhem, and Technicolor violence, all of which are mixed to gruesome and gleeful effect by director Vin Crease in Slaughterhouse of the Rising Sun (2004). Demented and obsessive Crease is responsible for both the homage-rich script and for the slyly sinister visual tone of Slaughterhouse; he also creeps about onscreen as the viscerally conflicted male lead. This mordantly humorous tale is set in the era of The Last House on the Left (1972) and The Texas Chain Saw Massacre (1974).
