Singled Out

No Nudity

Review

From the ever-so-creative minds at MTV came belching forth this putrid plate of horrid horseshit that they liked to call Singled Out. Of course, like the rest of MTV’s programming, which oddly enough DOESN’T INCLUDE MUSIC VIDEOS, the show was aimed at the teeny-bopper audience and thus sank to that common denominator of humor. Yee hah. How entertaining…On its face, the show would seem to be just another dating-game series with scads of Hollywood hopefuls competing for a date just so they could get some face time on national TV. Well, that’s basically what it was, although MTV threw in quite a few little “bonuses” like “The Embarrassing Stunt Round,” categories like “Body Type,” which inevitably eliminated about half of the 50 starting contestants when Joe Hot Shit proclaimed that he wanted his date to be “thin,” as well as co-hosts like Jenny McCarthy and Carmen Electra, both of whom started their careers on the wonderfully-glossy pages of Playboy. Marketing bloody genius, I tell ya!Although the co-hosts never got around to parading about on stage with nothing more than a smile on, which would have gotten it up, that is, made for some serious ratings hikes, most of the young ladies competing for a date wore just about the sexiest things they could find. Unfortunately, that was only the second half of the show. The first half was spent with ONE chick choosing from a horde of chiseled would-be actors which made tuning in at the beginning quite a chore for this intrepid reviewer. Still, for some seriously mindless exploitative “entertainment,” it’s worth watching, if for no other reason than to see Jenny McCarthy making faces and bouncing her tits across the stage. It’s a guilty pleasure…Written by: Vance Moravian
