Genius is known by the mediocrity that copies it, and the wise money predicts a slew of imitators will be spawned by the innovative mayhem of Shredder (2002). The premise of Shredder is so obvious in its brilliance that it’s a wonder that director Greg Huson is the first to bring the concept of a ski lodge slasher to the screen. In fact, it is entirely possible that Huson stole the idea from someone else. Nonetheless, the potential to pair white snow and red blood is a cinematic promise that pays off for the heightened film fan, whether crimson spurts of hemoglobin are splashed across the crystallized white expanse or not. The fact remains; a maniac with an axe is making dismembered work of seven friends who had assumed they were alone on the mountain. The slopes are slippery even without being coated in blood.
