And Yet Where Is Our Black Widow Movie?

Every once in a while, you hear something and instantly you file it away in your “Well, duh” file. Like if I told you that Scarlett Johansson was the highest-grossing actress of all time, you would instantly respond with; “Well, duh.”

Now, you might actually call your “Well, duh” file the “No shit” or “Of course” file, but all the information stored in this file is the same. Scarlett Johansson is the 10th highest paid actor working today, beating out Matt Damon, Robert De Niro, and Bruce Willis. With The Avengers franchise, it’s no wonder ScarJo is raking in the dough, though I will point out that we still don’t have a Black Widow solo movie, which needs to happen. She recently talked about being the only woman in the top ten and the wage gap in Hollywood with Variety:

“There’s something icky about me having that conversation unless it applies to a greater whole,” Johansson told the magazine. “I am very fortunate, I make a really good living, and I’m proud to be an actress who’s making as much as many of my male peers at this stage… I think every woman has [been underpaid], but unless I’m addressing it as a larger problem, for me to talk about my own personal experience with it feels a little obnoxious. It’s part of a larger conversation about feminism in general.”

If you ask me, Scarlett Johansson should make more money than most anyone she’s in a film with simply for her nude turn in the movie Under theSkin, but often times Scarlett Johansson is the best part of a movie. I know there is some outrage over her role in Ghost in the Shell, but we all know we will be first in line when tickets go on sale because… it’s ScarJo.
