Saw III (2006)

Saw III (2006) represented the last time Leigh Whannell, the screenwriter of the original Saw (2004) movie was ever involved in the franchise. He wrote the screenplay to this very clever third flick, then saw the writing on the wall and bailed before the movies got really bad. In the film, the diabolical mastermind Jigsaw (Tobin Bell) lies dying in a hospital bed. He kidnaps Dr. Lynn Denlon (Bahar Soomekh) and has his former reverse beartrap victim turned second in command henchwoman, Amanda (Shawnee Smith) to rig up an explosive trap around Lynn's neck that'll go off if Jigsaw dies. Meanwhile, we meet the grieving father Jeff (Angus Macfayden) who's kidnapped and put in front of all the people involved in his son's death at the hands of a drunk driver, who has to decide between getting revenge on them or moving on. It's not as good as the first twist, but there's a great twist ending in this one that'll have you wishing Leigh Whannell wrote even more of these movies. While the star of these movies that were often derided as "torture porn" is always going to be the innovative traps, we always appreciate getting to see some skin in the Saw franchise. Among the most ghastly set-ups in Saw III is the slow execution by freezing of Debra McCabe, who is chained to pipes full-frontally nude in a sub-zero room while being doused with ice water. She's wearing a merkin, but the rock hard nips are very real, and it's totally hot! Cold shower be damned, we'd still be rock hard if we were in there with her! There's also a bit of undie stuff from Shawnee Smith, and a quick scene where sits bedside Bahar Soomekh in a turquoise nightie. Want to play a game?
