Biography

The oddball 1968 comedy Greetings is noteworthy for a variety of interesting little reasons: 1) It was one of the earliest features from now-legendary filmmaker Brian De Palma, 2) It offered a very young Robert De Niro in an early (and surprisingly comedic) role, and (most importantly) 3) It had a naked woman named Sara-Jo Edlin hidden within--and she plays the plum role of Nymphomaniac. It doesn’t take an Ebert to realize that if a gal is hired to play a nymphomaniac in a Brian De Palma movie there’s bound to be some skin! And yes, that is indeed the case here. Sara-Jo unleashes a full-frontal fury for just a few moments, but those scenes are worth their weight in watermelons. (Those who like to see beautiful naked women lensed in lovely fashion should also check out De Palma’s Dressed to Kill [1980] and Body Double [1984].) As is often the case when a sexy young thing is hired to portray a nympho in a 1968 sex comedy, Sara-Jo never made it into another movie.
