Barbadian beauty Robyn Rihanna Fenty begs for a rescue in S.O.S. (2006), a chart-topping dance-pop hit from the singer’s sophomore release. Originally offered to Island Def Jam labelmate Christina Milian, the track––built on the synth hook from Soft Cell’s “Tainted Love”––proved a boon for Rihanna, who used it to rule the MTV airwaves for much of 2006. The poppy dance number gets a big boost from the Chris Applebaum directed vid, which follows the curvy heroine as she bumps, grinds, and belly dances her way into the pop-culture limelight.
