Ruby in Paradise (1993)

Ashley Judd's acting career kicked into high gear with the Sundance Grand Jury Prize winning film Ruby in Paradise (1993)! Judd stars as the titular Ruby, who leaves her small Tennessee town in search of a fresh start in the relatively small Florida tourist town of Panama City, where she used to vacation as a child. Arriving during the off-season, Ruby luckily lands a job in a souvenir shop. The film then follows her over the course of a year as she gets involved with two wildly different local men—bad boy Ricky (Bentley Mitchum, grandson of Robert) and the more grounded Mike (Todd Field)—and tries to eat, pray, love, get her groove back, and finally stop waiting to exhale. It's the sort of indie flick they loved to make in the 90s when they centered a film around a woman who was looking for more than just a man to settle down with, though it's not a total waste of time since you get to spend nearly two hours in the company of an absolutely smoking hot 24-year old Ashley Judd! This helped her break away from the shadow of her country-music legend mother and half-sister, and also gave us a taste of the sexiness to come in her future! Sadly, she doesn't get nude in the flick, but she does show off her banging bikini body! On the nudity front, there is a brief trip to a strip club at the hour and seventeen minute mark where Jean Garrido goes topless while dancing for the sparsely assembled locals! Ruby in Paradise?
