Royal Deceit (1994)

What do Laurence Olivier, Mel Gibson, Kenneth Branagh, and Ethan Hawke have in common? All of these actors have portrayed the titular character in filmed versions of William Shakespeare’s Hamlet. And so has Christian Bale. Sort of. In Royal Deceit (1994), Bale plays Denmark’s Prince Amleth, who supposedly was the real life inspiration for the Bard’s famed protagonist. Also known as Prince of Jutland and Thrones & Empires, the historic pic features Kate Beckinsale, Gabriel Byrne, Brian Cox, Tom Wilkinson, and Helen Mirren’s curvaceous frame! As the hot to trot queen, Helen brandishes only a blanket on her walk to the bathhouse just four minutes into the movie. Once she releases it, we get to see her big nude boobs, a bit of bush and a flash of ass. In other words, “Something’s arousing in Denmark!” If that’s not erotic enough, the blonde Gunvor (Saskia Wickham) reveals her bare back and rack in the same sexy scene. The topless babe lets us peek at her pale peaks again, this time when she pleases her man at the 25-minute mark. Later, Ms. Wickham shows off her nude booty as she lays with Mr. Bale on a bale of hay. Here, at Skin Central, we can’t resist a costume drama that doesn’t rely on its costumes. Indeed, film critics commented on the period piece’s barebones wardrobe. But isn’t that what you’d expect from a 12th century set? “To be nude or not to be nude,” that’s no question at all in this skintastic flick!
