Some of the most effective nudity in skinema history has come to us courtesy of moments that depict some awfully uncomfortable--occasionally even fatal--sexual situations. The following is a round-up not of every celluloid atrocity that features naked skin, just the ones that happen to wallop this author where he feels it most.

And remember, what's up there on screen is all just play acting.

Monica Bellucci (Picture:1 - 2)
Irr?rsible (2002)
Provocative filmmaker Gaspar No?b> shocked the shit out of the stodgy Cannes Film Festival in 2002 with this tale-told-backward that centers on Monica Bellucci being assaulted and her boyfriend exacting vengeance on the dudes he believes did it. The impossibly elegant, flawless-physiqued Monica makes it through a grueling scene that goes on and on and on and turns up naked elsewhere several times as well.

Jane Birkin (Picture:1 - 2)
Je t'aime, moi non plus (1976)
Waifish wonder Jane Birkin pushes androgyny to new heights of arousal in this tale of a gay trucker (played by Warhol superstar Joe Dallesandro) who goes ga-ga at the site of pixie-coiffed, flat-chested tomboy Jane. As Joe is a committed tuchus Tarzan, his falling for the bearer of ovaries hits him hard and he unleashes his frustration on Jane in a series of scorching, lube-free anal-sex invasions. Jane screams and creams the whole way through, every time. The cr?-de-la-cruelty comes at the end, though, when Joe's jilted homo boyfriend attempts to suffocate bathing Jane by holding a plastic bag over her head. Her desperation and terror seem all too believable, and her long nips and jungle-lush pubic mound never looked more inviting.

Sandra Cassel and Lucy Grantham
The Last House on the Left (1972)
Wes Craven's debut drive-in scandal depicts the abduction, humiliation, and extermination of two perfectly adorable teenage girls at the hands (and other parts) of a multi-gender cabal of thugs. Sandra Cassel and Lucy Grantham play suburban sweeties who just want to catch a rock concert in the big city but instead follow the promise of weed to their agonizing demise. David Hess, who is world-renowned for being so easy to revile, portrays the gang leader who takes Sandra and Lucy to the woods. Later, Hess and his minions suffer the wrath of one of the girls' parents, with still more sexual degeneracy on display there. No wonder audiences lined up in pop-eyed packs to see this as it played theaters for more than a decade.

Jodie Foster (Picture:1 - 2)
The Accused (1988)
Try listening to "Pinball Wizard" and not feeling something in your loins after looking at this one. It might be shame. Or it might be ... something else. Jodie Foster plays a white-trash waitress in a roughneck bar who falls prey to a pile of hooligans one out-of-control Saturday evening. They toss her up on a pinball machine and gangbang her way past the point of registering a "tilt". Unlike similarly themed movies a decade earlier, The Accused allows Jodie to exact a come-uppance on the creeps, but she does it in a courtroom.

Emily Haack (Picture: - )
Scrapbook (2000)
Full-bodied and fully nude for almost the entire duration of the micro-budget mind-melter Scrapbook, Emily Haack is an utter revelation in fearless acting and filmmaking. Playing the prisoner of a basement-dwelling psycho, Haack endures a jagged bottle being shoved up her vagina, performing a hardcore blowjob on camera, constant (real) slaps and punches, and ultimately being pissed on. No joke. He really does it and Emily really takes it. Scrapbook is a harrowing freefall into all of our worst, very believable nightmares, yet Emily's all-out, here-for-the-world-to-see performance never, even at the movie's most hideous, completely strays from a heady air of sex appeal.

Camille Keaton (Picture:1 - 2)
I Spit on Your Grave (1978)
The most famous revenge title of them all belongs to one of the very best low-budget action freaker-outers ever made. With a long red mane and milky white skin, Camille Keaton makes a natural target for the unnatural desires of the hayseeds in the town where she's rented a cabin to finish writing a novel. The band of baddies puts Camille through a wringer quite unlike anything ever splattered onto a screen before or since, with everyone getting a turn. More than once. Of course, it later becomes Camille's turn, as she offs her attackers with an impressively inventive array of gory final punishments. Hanging, chopping, and, most memorably, castration--all in blood-red color--forever cemented I Spit on Your Grave at the very top echelon of the sexually sadistic subgenre.

Christina Lindberg (Picture:1 - 2)
Thriller: A Cruel Picture (1974)
Baby-faced, pouty-lipped, long-haired Swedish knockout Christina Lindberg took on permanent cult-film icon status when she grabbed a shotgun, donned a leather coat, and famously slapped on an eye-patch in madman director Bo Arne Vibenius's Thriller: A Cruel Picture, a.k.a. They Call Her One Eye. Again, an innocent (Christina, who plays a mute) is kidnapped and exploited. Only in Thriller she gets addicted to heroin and pimped out. Christina's wicked prostitution scenes with dirty old men and "lipstick lesbian" Despina Tomazani are sizzling studies in submission. They break her down so completely that when she arises to pay them back, she is sexy in a whole new way. And deadly too.

Miho Nikaido (Picture:1 - 2)
Tokyo Decadence (1992)
The life of the prostitute is frequently one of degradation and despair. Certainly that's what it appears to be for Miho Nikaido in the NC-17 arthouse smash Tokyo Decadence. And nobody else makes it look so good. As many of Miho's clients are given to kinks, we repeatedly see her being abused for a living. One sequence has her crawling around an apartment floor with a buzzing vibrator duct taped inside her vagina. She also presses her topless body against a big office window while her master maddeningly makes her take her panties down again and again and again. And again. The Godzilla-sized turn-on occurs, though, when Miho lesbianically gives herself to a leather-wrapped female dominatrix and then pees into a silver bowl held by an admiring slave boy.

Hilary Swank (Picture:1 - 2)
Boys Don't Cry (1999)
Before she won an Oscar for Million Dollar Baby, Hilary Swank took home the Best Actress gold for Boys Don't Cry, proving undoubtedly that nobody gets beaten to death like Mrs. Chad Lowe. Hilary took on the gender-flipping role of real-life girl-to-guy transvestite Brandon Teena, who was beaten to death when rednecks discovered the true nature of her nether regions. What reads as heart-wrenching tragedy in the newspaper somehow plays out with pants-stretching power on the big screen. When that mean dude pulls down Hilary's pants and serves us a delicious look at her hairpie, it's hot as hell.

Sandy Richman (Picture:1 - 2)
Ilsa, She Wolf of the S.S. (1974)
It's a thankless task to pick just one definitive representative of the vile sexual wrongness contained in all four entries in the Ilsa film series starring Dyanne Thorne. If you check out any one of the films' pages here on the site and just click random clips, you're in for a gleeful cavalcade of over-the-top, deep-in-the-bowels raunch and repulsiveness. My selection, because I had to make one, would be for Sandy Richman in the original, Ilsa, She Wolf of the S.S. At a Nazi dinner party, Sandy serves as the full-frontally nude centerpiece, standing on a block of ice with a razor-wire noose fastened around her neck. As the schvine-hundts dine, the ice melts and Sandy gets slowly, bloodily choked to death. Now, that's class!

Gina Ravera (Picture:1)
Showgirls (1995)
No character in the greatest film ever made--Showgirls--is more likable than Gina Ravera's Molly, the Vegas seamstress who takes in dancing drifter Nomi Malone (Elizabeth Berkley). It goes without saying that in the ultra-gaudy, violation-of-all-things-holy universe inhabited by Showgirls Molly must meet the most wicked of fates. And, oh, does she ever. Molly, you see, is a fanatical devotee of rock star Andrew Carver (played by Lurch-like William Shockley). When she finally meets her idol at a big casino shindig, he promptly smacks her, throws her on a bed, and conducts a gangbang without mercy. It's a moment that almost stops Showgirls cold, but it's the perfect set-up for Elizabeth Berkley's war-paint-on-the-nipples kung-fu smackdown of the guilty.
