Review

The pocket protector wearing, freckled, bespectacled, often acne ridden dweebs are back in Revenge of the Nerds II: Nerds in Paradise (1987). But this time they're seeking vengeance away from their home turf, on the beaches of Fort Lauderdale. The geeks of Lambda Lambda Lambda hop in the car to rep their frat at a national convention, only to find out that their arch enemies: the beefcakes of Alpha Beta, took their reservation, and are being aided by the hotel manager who doesn't want nerds infecting his hotel. The nerds end up in a skeevy motel, but that's not enough to keep the Alphas from constantly messing with the nerds. From trying to get a rule that physical requirements be added to every frat's bylaws, to faking a Seminole Indian ceremony to get the nerds nearly naked before running off and leaving them walking home in their undies, the Alphas see the beach as their new battlefield. But these nerds have dealt with these bros, before. Sort of. See, most of the nerds like Robert Carradine, Curtis Armstrong, and Larry B. Scott are back, but Anthony Edwards' role is barely a cameo, and the only Alpha to reprise his role is Ogre (Donald Gibb). But since Bradley Whitford is a perfectly suitable replacement as the head Alpha d-bag, that's not much of an issue. The real problem is that the nerds crunching numbers at the movie studio decided that while the first nerd flick had all sorts of nudity, this one would be PG-13. Because of that, all we get skinwise is Courtney Thorne-Smith letting a nerd rub her down in a white bikini, and a look at her in a camo bra when the nerds hop into an old tank and decide to take over the conference. We need more dirty and less nerdy! Revenge is still sweet, but without the nudity, there's not much to beat our meat to in Revenge of the Nerds II
