Review

Redline (2007) revolves around a trio of high rollers—played by Eddie Griffin, Tim Matheson, and Angus MacFayden—who beat off boredom by betting on high-speed races of the intensely illegal sort. They hand over their exotic cars to daredevils like Jesse Johnson and the very beat-off worthy Nadia Bjorlin, a singer caught up unexpectedly in the drag-racing game who also happens to be the daughter of a smashed-up dead driver. Nadia wants out of her high-speed life, so she turns to Jesse's brother, Iraq vet Nathan Phillips, to help her tamper with race results to get back at the bigshot who has threatened her family. But enough about plot: Redline is a vanity project funded by the exquisitely rich Daniel Sadek, who wanted to see his luxury-car collection racing at top speeds on the big screen. It's about velocity and smash-‘em-ups, and it delivers both in spades (and don't worry, it doesn't go light on bikini-clad babes).
