Radio Days (1987)

Brief Nudity

Review

Self-loathing screen funnyman Woody Allen celebrates the heyday of the AM/FM band in the effusively entertaining comedy Radio Days (1987). Set in a middle-class New York City neighborhood during the 1940s, the film centers on the weird and wonderful characters orbiting around a young boy (Seth Green) raised by his radio. From a lonely-hearted aunt (Dianne Wiest) and a failed businessman dad (Michael Tucker) to a star-struck cigarette girl (Mia Farrow) and a wisecracking mom (Julie Kavner), Allen’s characters perform against a backdrop of crackling, golden-age hits. As an added boon, there’s no need to fear the Truman-era mores––a curvy neighbor played by Sydney A. Blake offers a binoculars-clutching Green ample skin to peep at.
