Puberty blues is something Australians must suffer from since the oceanic country released an R-rated teen sex comedy called Puberty Blues in 1981 as well as the dramedy series Puberty Blues which ran from 2012 to 2014 on Network Ten TV. Honestly, the topic is universal because it’s something everyone can identify with. Here in the States, Maya Erskine and Anna Konkle confronted cringe in school via the streaming sitcom PEN15 (2019-2021) as did the mainstream movies Sixteen Candles (1984), Romy and Michele’s High School Reunion (1997), and 13 Going On 30 (2004). After all, who among us really had a happy adolescence? Certainly not Debbie Vickers (Ashleigh Cummings) and Sue Knight (Brenna Harding). These awkward babes are best friends who support each other through the often painful coming of age lessons that life throws us. Based on the novel “Puberty Blues” (1979) by Kathy Lette and Gabrielle Carey, the small screen saga centers on a group of teenagers growing up in the 1970s. Of course, shapely Cheryl Hayes (Charlotte Best) was growing at a quicker pace than her classmates. This is clear when the developed dear dons an itsy bitsy teeny weeny black bikini as she wields her heaving cleavage while posing for pictures. Say cheese! If that’s not hot enough, hottie Pam Parker (Susie Porter) flashes her flesh in not one, but two skinny-dipping scenes at the beach and in a pool. Maybe the series would have lasted longer than two seasons if Puberty Blues had been titled Post-Puberty Boobs
