With talk of a film version of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s hit musical, famed director Dario Argento had to find a new angle for his take on Gaston Leroux's original work in Phantom of the Opera (1998). He might have gone too far. Julian Sands stars as a radically revamped Phantom who was raised in the sewers beneath the Paris Opera and commands an army of rats against an exterminator with an elaborate rodent-killing contraption. Willard of the Opera also finds time to obsess over an opera singer, with Asia Argento properly stunning as the topless object of his desire. Kitty Kéri shows off her own dark Italian beauties, and there’s plenty of skin--and we mean plenty--with a visit to a whorehouse that seems to specialize in chubby chasers.
