Authoress V.C. Andrews knew she was onto a good thing with the success of “Flowers in the Attic” (1979). The bestselling book spawned several published sequels which were made into the TV movies Petals on the Wind (2014), If There Be Thorns (2014) and Seeds of Yesterday (2015). The former features skinematic sexpot Heather Graham, singer/dancer Stephanie Kim, blonde ingénue Talitha Bateman, and bouncy Bailey Buntain of Faking It (2014-2016) and The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel (2017-2023) fame. In the Petals installment, the Dollanganger siblings are still trying to move on in the face of the abuse they suffered at the hands of their twisted grandmother (Ellen Burstyn). Cathy (Rose McIver) decides to return to Foxworth Hall, the house they grew up in. She wants to finally put an end to their dysfunction by seducing her mother’s new husband. Apparently, the hottie feels she must fight fire with fire. As such, we are treated to a few sizzling shots of Mc. McIver when the fair-haired babe dons an old school brassiere to expose some cleavage. Even though she doesn’t let us peek at her private parts, Rose may make you rise in your jeans. It’s more about the suggestion of seeing skin than any serious flashing of flesh. After all, the pic ran on the Lifetime channel. A Variety review said it “looks and feels like a rush job, but improves on its predecessor [Flowers in the Attic (2014)] in nearly every way. No wonder, we give it thumbs (among other things) up!
