The two exclamation points are not a grammatical error in the title of Oh! Calcutta! (1972) — the play is that good!! This pay-per-view special is the only film documentation of the first nudie musical that put genitalia on Old Broadway. The racy romp revue features skits written by guys from Samuel Beckett to John Lennon. That’s quite a range, and this is quite a production! Indeed, the dance numbers won’t just make you feel groovy, they’ll make you feel something in your jeans. Yes, the full-frontal charms of the comely cast will have you feeling tight in the pants! Just 10 minutes into the show, Jill (Patricia Hawkins), Helen (Samantha Harper) and Cherie (Margo Sappington) show off their nude boobs, pubes and buns as they perform the opening number. The same can be said for naked babe Nancy Tribush who belts out “Taking Off the Robe (Oh! Calcutta!)” on stage. In addition to taking on the roles of Jane, Sue Ellen and Dr. Bronson, Ms. Tribush takes off her clothes in other sketches. Check out her muff and rump at the 42-minute mark and her bare breasts about 42 minutes later. Not to be outdone, Raina Barrett goes full frontal while lying on an exam table. As a “test girl” she lets a bunch of doctors tickle her ta-tas. Talk about a goofy bedside manner! With so much nudity, Oh! Calcutta! was one of the longest-running events ever to hit the Great White Way. Needless to say, it’s a mamorable show!
