Goth goddess Rose McGowan had a rough childhood. She was born into the Children of God cult (now called The Family International), which demands that its members form no family units and maintain no permanent residences. So Rose wandered the world until age 13, when she escaped the sinister hippie church and found a new family- a group of flamboyant drag queens in Portland, Oregon.

In a new interview with The Advocate, Rose speaks affectionately of her time with the ladyboys:

We didn’t always know where our next meal was coming from, but there was so much camaraderie and love...To this day, I only go to gay clubs. I’m perfectly at home there. I also like watching hot boys and hot girls who can dance.

Rose also says that being surrounded by gays and lesbians didn't affect her sexual orientation- though she kind of wishes it did:

I disappoint myself. I’ve never even kissed a girl. Isn’t that funny? The girls I think are cute look like guys, but then I think, But if they open their shirt, they’ll have breasts.

But going gay for pay? Now that's another story:

I’d be stoked to do a lesbian love scene. When asked if I’ve kissed a girl, I could finally say, ‘Why, yes, I have. And I got paid.'
