The good people over at Entertainment Weekly have undertaken a scientific survey (as scientific as a movie blog can be, anyway) to find out, and for the raw data they have wisely turned to the expert...Mr. Skin!

Using frequently nude Oscar darling Kate Winslet as the quin-tit-ssential example, EW cross-checked all the Best Actress Oscar winners from 1987 to 2011 with their records on MrSkin.com. So is going nude the key to gripping a little bald man in your sweaty palms (an Oscar, you pervs)?

Yes and no. Only 9 out of the 25 winners went nude in the role they won for (like Halle Berry in Monster's Ball (2001) and Holly Hunter in The Piano (1993)), but 21 out of the 22 actresses in the survey (some won multiple times- we're looking at you, Meryl Streep) had gone nude at some point in their career.

Numbers don't lie, ladies- if you want to win, you've got to show skin!

Whether or not you agree with these Gentlemen's assessment of Valentines' Day, the fact remains that that annual cavalcade of culturally-mandated romance is almost upon us.

And while a fancy French dinner by candlelight sounds pretty romantic, don't forget that by the time she finishes that third glass of wine and you make it back home, it'll be sleepy time, not sexy time.

So we suggest that this year, you stay home and make a nice dinner for the two of you (be sure to remind her it's the thought that counts if you're clueless in the kitchen) before settling in for one of those "chick flicks" you usually hate. That way you'll be close to the bedroom when those amorous urges strike, and look like a thoughtful dude to boot.

What she doesn't need to know is that these "chick flicks" are all Mr. Skin-approved for maximum ogling potential...just don't get caught with your jaw on the floor, ok?

We've got a slew of A-list nudity this week as Miramax wallows in its awards-show glory by releasing its greatest Oscar tits- er, hits- on Blu-ray. Among he skintastic titles are Frida (2002), featuring Salma Hayek nude and lesbian, The Piano (1993), starring Holly Hunter's brown eye, The English Patient (1996) with nude stars Juliette Binoche and Kristin Scott-Thomas, Cold Mountain (2003), starring Nicole Kidman's milky-white mountains, and Shakespeare in Love (1998), with Gwyneth Paltrow naked. Phew!

Plus, they're not Oscar winners, but you'll still be rubbing your little bald man as Mischa Barton goes lesbo in You and I (2011) and Naoko Watanabe bares her rising suns in the bloody Japanese flick Outrage: Way of the Yakuza (2011), nude on DVD and Blu-ray.

The Cannes Film Festival is the biggest event of the year for movie producers, distributors and critics, with high-profile titles premiering at the Festival and thousands of movies screened and sold at the Cannes Marketplace. Much of what lights up movie screens around the world is influenced by what happens at Cannes, and the Palm d'Or is the biggest prize of the festival. And maybe it's the European influence, or maybe it's just the nude beaches, but the prestigious Cannes Palm d'Or and scorching-hot scenes of nudity are by no means mutually exclusive.

For a Hollywood actress, the ultimate double shot is being nominated for two acting Oscars in the same year (unless you’re Lindsay Lohan, in which case the ultimate double shot is lifting two bottles of tequila at Discount Liquor Mart). Here’s a sampling of our favorite ladies who’ve received this rare honor:

Ravishing redhead Julianne Moore is the most recent nominee on our list, nominated in 2002 for her roles in Far from Heaven and The Hours. But you have to go back all the way to 1993 for a glimpse of her famous firecrotch (and buns) in Short Cuts.

Also in 1993, Holly Hunter received two nominations for her roles in The Firm and The Piano. We get firm thinking about tinkling Holly’s ivories, shown here in glorious rear view in The Piano.

Icy British beauty Emma Thompson was nominated the same year for her roles in The Remains of the Day and In the Name of the Father. Mr. Skin will spend the remains of this day reminiscing about Emma’s rack in The Tall Guy (1989).

5’10” glamazon Sigourney Weaver was nominated in 1988 for her roles in Gorillas in the Mist and Working Girl. Sigourney didn’t show her beaver in those films, though she played a lady of the night in Working Girl, but she graciously compensated by flashing full frontal in A Map of the World (2000).
