John Harrison is the pied piper of sleaze. A passionate advocate of all things weird and wild, John is a collector and expert on a number of sordid subjects including comic books, amusement parks, horror movies, true crime, stag films (Anal Dwarf is one of his prize possessions), and vintage paperback novels.

John is also the author of Hip Pocket Sleaze, the definitive book on paperback pulp from Headpress Books. Hip Pocket Sleaze is not only an entertaining and insightful overview of the pulp paperback and its many interesting incarnations- lesbian pulp, Nazisploitation, sexploitation, hippiesploitation, and more- but also a handy how-to guide on how to get some of these lurid, lusty and oddly fascinating vintage books into your grubby little hands.

A freelance writer based in Melbourne, Australia, John has written for scads of print and online publications (including the Mr Skin blog!), is currently working on a new book, Rene Bond: America's Tragic Teenage Fantasy.

She was only nude in one MAM-orable movie, 1969's Beyond the Valley of the Dolls, but Russ Meyer girl Cynthia Myers (no relation) left an indelible impression on men with her Playboy pictorials.

So we're sad to report that the racktacular Ms. Meyers passed away last week of unknown causes. The nudes was broken by Hugh Hefner, who posted on his Twitter page: "I'm saddened by the news of the passing of beloved Playmate Cynthia Myers, Miss December 1968."

Cynthia was only 17 when she shot her first centerfold for the legendary men's mag in June 1968. When her 18th birthday came and went and the photos were finally published, she became a skinstant fan favorite, especially among soldiers in Vietnam.

After the runaway success of her pictorial, Cynthia was a frequent guest on Hefner's Playboy After Dark series, and with her abundant assets, she was soon skinducted into Meyer's stable of top-heavy talent for Beyond the Valley of the Dolls, where she played lesbian rock singer Casey Anderson.

Cynthia followed up Dolls with a supporting role in the Western Molly and Lawless John (1972), but her career on screen was unfortunately brief.

She remains a fan favorite at Playboy, and was voted #10 "Playmate of the Century" by readers of the magazine.

Cynthia will be sorely missed by her family, friends and millions of fans around the world.

Here at Skin Central, seasons come and go like so many DVDs across our desks--and, subsequently, Kleenexes in our wastebaskets.

Narrowing the releases of the last 12 months to just 25 "favorites", in fact, proved a challenge. But we're up to handling hard parts in these jobs--I mean, handling hard jobs in these parts.

Our only ground rule was that the film in question on a given DVD did not have a theatrical release in 2006. Our tribute to the finest skin-chievements on the big screen--as well as the boob tube--is coming up in the weeks ahead, and no measly charge of "lewd behavior in public" is going to keep us from weighing in on this in full.

Without further ado, then, here are our picks, in alphabetical order, for our 25 Favorite DVDs for nudity and sex--a.k.a. "the good parts"--that were released in 2006.
