Nothing Bad Can Happen (2013)

Inspired by true events, the German thriller Nothing Bad Can Happen (2013) follows Tore (Julius Feldmeier), a young and impressionable lost soul that has fallen in with a group of “Jesus Freaks”, a punk-based Christian sect located in a ramshackle house in Hamburg. While trying to find himself, the gullible dude has a chance encounter with Benno (Sascha Alexander Gersak), a charming family man who Tore thinks was sent from God. Smitten with Benno, Tore eventually switches alliances and slowly moves away from his Christian buddies to go stay with his new surrogate family. But something smells rotten at the Benno household—his Godsend turns out to have quite a temper, he expresses some disturbing and intimate behavior towards his teenage tomboy daughter, Sanny (Swantje Kohlhof), and he begins to voice a festering contempt towards Tore’s religious beliefs.
