Review

Not Love, Just Frenzy (1996), aka Más que amor, frenesí, is a Spanish comedy about 20 something drug-using, sex-seeking Madrid residents and the Madrid club scene of the 90's. The film revolves around Yeye (Ingrid Rubio), an art student who recently broke up with the love of her life; María (Beatriz Santiago), a radical chick with bright reddish hair; and Mónica (Cayetana Guillén Cuervo), a junkie-turned-bartender. The action of the film kicks in when Yeye’s ex boyfriend, Max (Nancho Novo), is present when his new girlfriend (Amanda) shoots herself, making him a suspect in what the police think is a murder, and he hot foots it back to Madrid with the police on his trail. The policeman, of course, turns out to be the crazy lover she killed herself to avoid. Max works for pimp and lesbian Cristina (Bibí Andersen), and is seduced by Mónica, though he ends up with Yeye. Throw in some gays, some sexually ambiguous types, and three way over the top transvestites, and you are getting an idea. While there’s a lot going on in this film, there is also a lot of nudity. Bibí Andersen, Amanda, Cayetana Guillén Cuervo, Maite Pastor and Ingrid Rubio all doff their tops to reveal their amazing chest treats in various scenes of fornication and fun. Not Love, Just Frenzy will have you in a self-fornicating frenzy!
