Review

Tim Cox’s black comedy Miss Nobody (2010) features Vivica A. FoxAdam Goldbergand Leslie Bibb as Sarah Jane McKinney. She’s a shy secretary who works at a pharmaceutical company and lives with her mother (Kathy Baker). It all sounds very meek and mild, except for the fact that Sarah Jane seems to be an indirect harbinger of death. This started with a random accident that took the life of her abusive father (Mark Irvingsen) when she was little. As an adult, S.J. gets up the courage to beef up her resume with a few white lies so she can get a promotion at work, but the job is stolen by her sneaky coworker Milo Beeber (Brandon Routh). Luckily, fate steps in once again and lets Sarah Jane take over the newly-dead dude’s job position. Another fluke causes another promotion when another coworker, Pierre JeJeune (Patrick Fischler), exits the earth in an electrifying way. After our heroine decides to lean in to these “happy accidents” a little too much, suspicion arises. So, she tries to make Joshua Nether (Eddie Jemison) her fall guy. But a blackmailer emerges in the fine form of Sarah’s frenemy: blonde babe Charmaine Abatemarco (Missi Pyle). That’s one way to introduce a plot twist. Of course we’d be happier to see more curves on the comely cast than in the story. Unfortunately, the only bone thrown to viewers is the sight of Ms. Bibb donning a black brassiere. Had she shown more, Miss Nobody would have been somebody!
