Loves Me, Loves Me Not

No Nudity

Review

The 1977 summer sitcom Loves Me, Loves Me Not had an inauspicious run from May to June of that year. Starring Kip Gilman and Susan Dey in the lead roles of “Dick” and “Jane,” it was apparently the first sitcom to be based on a children’s primer (although dog “Spot” was dropped in the final script revisions). This plucked and wilted sitcom was a mere blip on Susan Dey’s filmography, since this blonde cutie has an extensive body of work in movies and television. Starting with the weekly adventures of the all-singing, all-dancing Partridge Family at the legally ripe age of eighteen, she went on to a prolific, if low-key, string of projects. Her most noteworthy role as an adult was probably her six year run on L.A. Law as Grace Van Buren, Esq.--a role which she reprised in the 2002 L.A. Law TV movie. But let’s face it, all we really care about is when she unwrapped her all-Dey suckers on film. According to our extensive files, she first went topless in First Love, looking surprisingly young and pert at the age of twenty-five. She went on to get stripped down for a full body laser scan in the lowbrow 1981 sci-fi movie Looker with Albert Finney. She’s had little objection to getting naked in other films and even disrobed once on L.A. Law when her character attended a client’s party--in a nudist colony. With sweet little dumplings like hers, we can see why she’d want to share them with the world--and on behalf of the world, we thank her.
