Review

This 1969 romantic sitcom featured a weekly line up of different celebrity guest stars as each hour-long episode interwove anywhere from three to four short vignettes that were, like the theme song said, “Truer than the red white and blue.” In fact, the show’s catchy opening tune may be the most enduring thing about the show, which received a Golden Globe nomination but was cancelled in ’74 before returning briefly in ’85 as New Love, American Style. We’re hoping that ‘new love’ doesn’t refer to the mid-80’s fad of gerbil sex, but historical documentation is sketchy at best. Thankfully, two of the guest-stars from the original show gave us some skin--American style! While actress Phyllis Davis never really got famous, this pretty brunette unfurled her curvy body and full breasts in Famous T&A. Also, Tracy Reed has been known to doff her dud-covers a time or two.
