Lost In Space

“Danger Will Robinson! Danger!” Chances are you’ve either said that catchphrase at some point in your life or, if you’re like us, wanted to throttle someone who said it. First uttered by the robot in the 1965 series Lost in Space, it has since become the most lasting remnant of the short-lived sci-fi show. Although it preceded the original Star Trek by a year, it failed to develop the same massive fan base of men in their thirties who “rent” their parents’ basements. Lost in Space told the story of the Robinsons, a space-going family of scientists and their children who were on a routine exploration mission, when the evil Dr. Smith sabotaged their ship, the Jupiter 2, sending it wildly off course. This resulted in their being lost in space and discovering strange planets every week while trying to get back home. The series garnered enough popularity to warrant the 1998 film of the same name starring Gary Oldman, William Hurt, Mimi Rogers, and Heather Graham. Despite boasting a respectable cast and excellent special effects, the movie bombed due to poor writing and sloppy directing, killing any chance the Robinsons ever had of getting back to Earth. However, we have to say that Rogers, Graham, and even budding teen Lacey Chabert all looked pretty damn good in those skintight flight suits. And of course neither Rogers nor Graham have been strangers to getting naked for the camera. As for the old-school cast, Marta Kristen, who played teen daughter Judy Robinson, did get briefly naked in Gemini Affair before her career became as lost as the Jupiter 2 itself.
