Everyone knows that supermodels make the most informed talk show hosts. At least some pitchman at CNN was able to sell some network execs on that premise when he unloaded the idea for Living in the 90’s With Christie Brinkley. The stunning uptown girl was hired to host this lifestyle show for CNN in 1992, but her role in the project was deceptively small. Turns out she wasn’t really the host at all but a presenter and wraparound girl who merely segued between uninteresting canned segments. Frustrated by her lack of creative involvement in the show, the former Mrs. Joel hit the road soon after it aired. The network shortened the title by three words, then dropped the show altogether less than a year later. As for Christie Brinkley herself, the aging supermodel remains mystically ageless in appearance, like some Tolkeinesque Elven queen. She got her start by throbbing hearts and tugging at zippers as aSports Illustrated swimsuit model, before going on to a sporadic acting career. She almost got naked as the flirty tourist who tempted Chevy Chase when she swam naked in the motel pool in National Lampoon’s Vacation, and she reprised the role later in Vegas Vacation.
